Round 8
Well done
to Stan Magro and his players on registering their first win of the season.
Chris
Maguire with eight goals was terrific and spearheads this week’s
team-of-the-week. Perth get the week off to assess their season so far and one
win from seven games would be well away from the mark required. Stan Magro
earns this week’s coaching honours.
The
wooden spoon could be decided this weekend when East Fremantle plays Peel at
Shark Park. If the Sharks were to go down against the Thunder you would think
some questions would be asked. Last week the sharks kicked nine goals against
their opposition in four quarters, while Peel kicked 8.
After
some disappointing top-of-the-table clashes, this Saturday’s game between
Subiaco and West Perth looks like being a real gem. Both sides are playing
confident football, have several big tall key position marking players, and
quick midfielders that both coaches rotate through the interchange. It may go
down to who coaches the best on the day.
South
Fremantle seems to have hit the wall with another average performance. The
pressure applied by the opposition made the Bulldogs look second rate when they
missed targets continuously by hand and foot. John Northey showed his
frustration at three quarter time and the Bulldog fans were also less than
impressed with the performance. A game against East Perth this week will not be
the time to sort out any problems.
