Round 6

Back in the mid 1980s East Fremantle built a reputation as being one of the toughest teams to beat on its home ground and the task of going to East Fremantle Oval was something you never looked forward to as a player.

How things have changed. At the moment every team is lining up to play East Fremantle. I cannot remember a year that the Sharks have started a year so poorly and the pressure is starting to build on some of the faces at the club.

Claremont has not been convincing in too many outing this year so the effort of the Tigers to beat the Sharks last week earns Guy McKenna coach-of-the-week honours. Still no luck for our other two cellar dwellers either, which puts a four-game break between the last three sides and a place in the top four.

Swan Districts has come back to earth with a thud. In the last two weeks, it hs been beaten by quality teams and is really yet to beat a top side. The Swans may find it difficult to overcome West Perth at the Arena Joondalup this week, which may make the gap between the top four sides even greater.

Lets hope our competition doesn’t become predictable!
