Round 3

Each week Football Budget columnist Rod Willet will examine the form of players in the WAFL competition and from there publish his Team-of-the-week.

After 3 rounds of football who would have guessed that Swan Districts would be on top of the premiership table.

Steve Turner has renewed the passion in the players and has a bye today to re-evaluate the season so far. The real test will come when they play South Fremantle and Subiaco in the following two weeks.

Can Claremont bounce back after two demoralising defeats?

With a wealth of experience at the club Guy McKenna would be hoping some of his senior players play a bigger part on match day. Injuries to some of their key midfielders has not helped but they are still struggling to find a consistent forward.

East Fremantle is not far away from a win but may find it tough this week against West Perth at Arena Joondalup.

After getting the green light from the Western Australia Football Commission Peel Thunder has failed to give any indication that they have improved from last year and State coach Stan Magro would be disappointed in Perth’s two performances this season.

Darren Harris earns coach of the week honours with his teams’ crushing defeat over premiership fancies Claremont.
