Round 20

SOUTH Fremantle keep its slim hopes of playing finals football alive when it was too good for East Fremantle.

With the announcement of John Northey’s retirement from coaching the Bulldogs it was a great effort to win. Whether he can keep the momentum going in his players over the next three games remains to be seen.

In today’s football how can you not score a goal for an entire match? East Perth sent the historians into over time when it scored nine behinds and no goals last week and will welcome the bye this week to sort out its problems before the finals.

It continues to be a roller coaster season for the Royals and maybe the end to their dominance over the past three years is imminent.

Claremont coach Guy McKenna will be aware that West Perth only had a five day break leading into this Saturday’s game after a bruising encounter against East Perth last Sunday. There are some tough weeks ahead and further injury to the ageing Tigers list may make them vulnerable to hanging onto their top four spot.

Subiaco gets a chance to settle into a regular team leading in to the finals and should be too good for the sharks.
