Round 2
Each week
Football Budget columnist Rod Willet will examine the form of players in the
WAFL competition and from there publish his Team-of-the-week.
What a
fantastic weekend of football!
On Friday
night we saw Subiaco lay down the law with a crushing win over premiership
contenders Claremont.
South
Fremantle was too good for East Fremantle in the first derby of the year but
the Sharks showed that they will not be the easy beats of the competition with
a spirited performance against a very experienced and talented South Fremantle.
Sunday we
experience our first wet game of the season when Swan Districts continued its
surprising early season form with a win over a disappointing Perth side.
Brad
Smith lead the goal scoring with a seven-goal performance and heads a potent
forward line in the team-of-the-week that includes Zane Parsons, Andrew Lovett
and Brent Tuckey who all kicked four goals.
Jeremy
Barnard continues his good form and Brent Cowell is proving to be one of the
hardest running midfielders in the game. Brothers Liam and Damien Casson are
enjoying their new home and James Byrne looks to be settling in well at his new
club. Peel Thunder had the bye.
Peter German
registered his first win for Subiaco, which earns him coach-of-the-week
honours.
