Round 14

A wet and blustery day normally makes it extremely tough for players to kick goals, but our Team-of-the-Week selections made light work of the greasy conditions.

Zane Parsons, last years leading goal kicker, was the best with six majors for South Fremantle.

A week is a long time in football, just asked Stan Magro after Western Australia’s dismal performance against South Australia. Stan bounced back to prove his critics wrong and earns this week’s coaching honours after Perth upset West Perth’s day of celebration.

Interesting to note a large number of State players were absent from their team’s best, suggesting Stan may have been right on the money when he said the side did not play to its potential. We all know potential is a very dangerous word in football!

Can Swan Districts prove most people wrong and make the finals this year? After winning one game last season, not too many people gave them much hope. Swans have done a great job on and off the field and it may encourage a few other clubs to have a good clean out and bring some new faces and new ideas. Apparently Steve Turner will not let the players use the “F” word, but will continue to play his best players on the ball!
