Round 3 GROUP GATHERS BEHIND LEADER

A strong group of young players has clustered together on three votes in the Network Ten Rising Star Award.

West Perth’s Jason Salecic and South Fremantle’s Clint Jones each picked up top votes to figure in the voting, while Shaun Hildebrandt from Peel and Michael Johnson from Peel picked up minor votes to move up in the voting

The Rising Star award will be judged each week by a panel of football journalists who collectively will attend each match before voting on a 3-2-1 basis.

To be eligible for the award, players must have played eight league games or less at the start of the 2003 season and must be aged 21 or under at the end of the home-and-away season.

West Coast and Fremantle rookie list players are able to win the award unless they are promoted onto the senior list during 2003. Players who are suspended by the tribunal during the home-and-away season will also be ineligible.

The presentation of the award will be conducted at an end of season function hosted by Football Budget publishers Wright Media.
