Round 20 LOG JAM AT THE
TOP
AS the voting in
the Network Ten Rising Star Award goes in camera, we can tell you that there is
a log jam amongst the leaders.
Such is the
calibre of the young talent in the WAFL in 2003, the voting in the Rising Star
Award will come down to the wire in the remaining three home-and-away games of
the season.
The Rising Star
award is judged each week by a panel of football journalists who collectively
will attend each match before voting on a 3-2-1 basis.
To be eligible
for the award, players must have played eight league games or less at the start
of the 2003 season and must be aged 21 or under at the end of the home-and-away
season.
West Coast and
Fremantle rookie list players are able to win the award unless they are
promoted onto the senior list during 2003. Players who are suspended by the
tribunal during the home-and-away season will also be ineligible.
The presentation
of the award will be conducted at an end of season function hosted by Football
Budget publishers Wright Media.
