Round 10 BEECK IN FRONT

EAST Perth ruckman Zach Beeck has arrested the lead in the voting for the Network Ten Rising Star Award from Perth’s Michael Johnson.

Beeck’s performance against Subiaco last week earned him top votes and gave him a one-vote lead after 10 rounds.

The Rising Star award is judged each week by a panel of football journalists who collectively will attend each match before voting on a 3-2-1 basis.

To be eligible for the award, players must have played eight league games or less at the start of the 2003 season and must be aged 21 or under at the end of the home-and-away season.

West Coast and Fremantle rookie list players are able to win the award unless they are promoted onto the senior list during 2003. Players who are suspended by the tribunal during the home-and-away season will also be ineligible.

The presentation of the award will be conducted at an end of season function hosted by Football Budget publishers Wright Media.
