WAFL Finals Rules & Regulations

AFL PLAYERS THAT QUALIFY FOR WAFL FINALS:

All AFL listed players are eligible for selection in the 1st Semi-Final as stated in Rule 4.1.2 of the WAFL Rules and Regulations.

This is due to both the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers having a fixture on the same weekend.

The rule states:

4.1.2
If an AFL player is not selected to play with his club in its fixture, and his WAFL club is playing in a final on the same weekend, the 5 game minimum rule does not apply.

4.1   PARTICIPATION IN FINALS

4.1.1
In order to qualify for the WAFL Finals AFL listed players must fulfill the requirements of the current AFL/WAFL Service agreement. AFL listed players must have played in at least 5 games in order to qualify for WAFL finals, in the same way as a player who has played WAFL League having to have played 5 reserves games in order to qualify for Reserves Finals selection. AFL listed players must also have played more WAFL League games than AFL games. If an AFL player has been named as an emergency for his AFL club and travels with the team or if the AFL Player has been named as an emergency for his AFL Club when they play at home and does not participate in that AFL Fixture, that emergency game will be credited towards the minimum of five (5) WAFL qualifying matches in the relevant season unless his WAFL team have a bye on that same round of games.

4.1.2
If an AFL player is not selected to play with his club in its fixture, and his WAFL club is playing in a final on the same weekend, the 5 game minimum rule does not apply.

4.1.3
If an AFL listed player does not play an AFL game during the season then he would automatically qualify for WAFL finals as per any other player based upon the WAFL games played during the season by that player.

4.1.4
The five (5) game rule will apply also to qualified League players to play Reserves or Colts, or Reserves players to play Colts, i.e. a player need play only five (5) games in a "lower" grade to qualify for finals in that grade, irrespective of the number of games he may have played at a higher level.

4.1.5
If a Club's League, Reserve and Colts teams, or if a Club's League and Reserve team, or Reserve and Colts team are engaged in final series matches on the same weekend, rule (4.1.4) shall not apply.

4.1.6
Colts players who have played League Football during the season automatically qualify for the reserves finals unless they have played more League Football than Colts football in that season.

4.1.7
For the purposes of "qualifying" games, a player who plays in more than one grade for his club during the same fixture, will be credited only with a game in the highest grade in which he plays.

4.3.  DRAWN MATCHES IN FINAL ROUND
