Round 4 COWELL SHARES LEAD

EAST Perth’s Brent Cowell has moved up to share the lead in the voting for the Football Budget’s prestigious Player-of-the-Year Award with South Fremantle’s James Byrne.

Cowell was best-on-ground in the Royals’ win over Claremont last Sunday. Subiaco ruckman David Lucas also made a strong move into equal second place with a best-on-ground performance against Perth.

The voting system for this award is the same as last season, with football journalists voting on a 3-2-1 basis for each game.

The winner of the award will be deemed the fairest and best player, with any player who has been suspended by the tribunal during the season ineligible for the award. The winner will receive a generous prize.

The presentation of the award will be conducted at an end of season function hosted by Football Budget publisher Wright Media.
