Round 3 BYRNE MOVES AHEAD
Two
best-on-ground performances in two weeks have earned
South Fremantle’s
James Byrne the lead in the Football Budget’s prestigious Player-of-the-Year
Award at the end of Round 3.
Byrne has jumped
to a one-vote lead of Swan Districts midfielder Shane Beros who was also given
three votes for his performance last weekend in his team’s win over Peel.
The voting system
for this award is the same as last season, with football journalists voting on
a 3-2-1
basis for each game.
The winner of the
award will be deemed the fairest and best player, with any player who has been
suspended by the tribunal during the season ineligible for the award. The
winner will receive a generous prize.
The presentation
of the award will be conducted at an end of season function hosted by Football
Budget publisher Wright Media.
