Peel – Stephen Pears and Derek Hall
Stephen Pears
Stephen Pears began his WAFL career with the Perth Football
Club in 1989 where he played 81 games. He moved to South Fremantle in 1996
where he played 84 games, was awarded fairest and best twice and was a member
of the 1997 premiership team. Stephen finally transferred to play with the Peel
Thunder Football club in 2000 and played 45 games with the club.
Derek Hall
Derek hall made his WAFL debut with the West Perth Football
Club where he played 105 games. In 1995 he was drafted to Geelong Football Club
where he played 74 senior games. In 2000 Derek was drafted to play with the
West Coast Eagles and played 2 games for the club. He returned to W.A. in 2001
where he returned to the Peel Thunder Football Club and played 50 games.
Throughout his football career Derek hall played 2 state of origin and 2 state
games and won one club fairest and best whilst playing for Peel Thunder.
South Fremantle – Tom Bottrell and Marty Atkins
Tom Bottrell
Tom Bottrell made his WAFL debut in 1992 with South Fremantle
Football Club. He wore guernsey number 31 and played 200 senior games. He was
the club’s vice captain in 1997(premiers), 2000, 2001 and 2002. Tom was awarded
the Warren medal for best clubman in 1995 and was runner up for the Hughes
Medal in 1999. Tom was a premiership player in 1997 and a state representative
in 1999.He won the Courage and Perseverance award in 2000 and the Atkins/Porter
trophy for Bulldog Spirit in 2003. Tom Bottrell became a South Fremantle
Football Club life member in 2000.
Marty Atkins
Marty Atkins began his football career with the Kwinana
Football Club. He moved on to play for the South Fremantle Football Club where
he played a total of 334 games at a colts, reserves and league level. In 1992
he received the Warren medal for best clubman. He was runner-up fairest and
best for South Fremantle in 1993, 1995, and 2002. He received the Fairest and
Best award in 1998 and was the runner-up for the Sandover medal in this year.
Marty captained the South Fremantle Football Club from 2000-2003. He played a
total of 6 state games and received the Simpson medal in 1993. In 1994 Marty
was awarded the League coaches award. In 1997 he played in the premiership team
and received life membership to South Fremantle. In 1998 Marty was the leading
goal scorer in the WAFL and inn 1999 he was awarded the Neil Lewington memorial
medal.
East Fremantle – Craig Treleven and Steven O’Brien
Craig Treleven
Craig Treleven was recruited from Esperance to play 120 games
with East Fremantle Football Club. He played 2 state games throughout his WAFL
career. Craig was drafted to Hawthorn in 1996 and played 78 games with the
club. In 1994 and 1995 he was awarded the Lynn medal. Craig also won the
Sandover medal in 1995 and the Simpson medal in the same year.
Steven O’Brien
Steven O’Brien wore jumper number 13 for the East Fremantle
Football Club. He has played a total of 131 games throughout his career. 73 of
which were played at a league level. Throughout his career, Steven O’Brien
kicked 144 goals.
